Year-end Checklist for Business

I recently mentioned in my post 6 Tips on How to be An Organised Entrepreneur that making lists was important for the success of your business. In this post, I share 7 key things I think should be on one of the most important lists to have, the Year-end checklist and I have a free printable for you as well.

Assess your Website 🌐

Checking your website is important and I think you should be the first thing you do. You will need to check the speed of your website, check if links are still working, check if any information is to be updated. Check your domain score and remove any unused plug-ins. This is also the perfect time to make any design changes to your website.

You really need to have a fast website as this helps with your SEO, user experience and productivity.

If you don’t have a website, then perhaps this is the time to get one.

Analyse your finances 💹

Check if there any open invoices that haven’t been paid and if there are send out those follow-up emails. Check if you have any subscriptions that would need to be paid up in the New Year especially annual subscriptions.

Perhaps you managed to meet your sales goals, possibly not. You can only know this if you take the time to find out. This is also the time to review your spending, are you spending more than you’re making in your business.

Review your email list 📧

Check if your email list is it up to date. Have you had some of your subscribers unsubscribe? There is nothing more annoying than receiving a newsletter from a brand you know you unsubscribed from. Respect your audience’s decision to unsubscribe.

Importantly check if it is updated and set it up properly, has the information been captured properly, are there any broken links. You don’t want to be working hard on newsletters only to discover it’s not even going out to the right people.

Backup information ℹī¸

This is something you should be doing on a regular basis anyway but this doing it at the end of the year ensures that everything is up to date before the closing of the year.

Pro tip: Ensure your information is secured and change your passwords regularly

Review Accomplishments 📑

Take some time to review your accomplishments. Perhaps you met some sells goals or increased your brand awareness. Taking time to see what you have achieved helps you to feel encouraged and motivated by the progress in your business. It will also help to identify what works in your business and you can replicate that in the New Year.

Set goals for the New Year 🗒ī¸

Having goals for your business is very important, it gives direction to your business, it ensures that your efforts are targeted and allows you to grow.

Create a budget 👛

Having previously analysed your finances you will be able to create a more detailed budget now. Maybe you have seen the growth of your business and you need to get some help. Perhaps you didn’t make your income goals then you will have to make the necessary adjustments to ensure your business survives another year.

You want to ensure that you have the resources that will help your business function properly.
