6 Tips on How to be An Organised Entrepreneur

I’ve been in this business for a couple of months and I’m already seeing the benefits of being organised in the way I operate. In this post, I’m sharing a few tips on how to be an organised entrepreneur.

Determine what type of planner  ๐Ÿ—’๏ธ you are

Itโ€™s best to decide on the style of organising that best suits your personality since there are so many systems out there. I incorporate both digital and analogue systems because Iโ€™m old school. I enjoy writing by hand but my business is mostly conducted online and I have to use tools that make it easy for me to work virtually.

Make a list ๐Ÿ“‹ of your goals.

It’s important to know your goals as this will help you become successful. Figure out what you’re trying to achieve with your business.

Make lists ๐Ÿ“ for whatโ€™s important to your business

I love lists and having them on a document somewhere makes it easy for you to focus on your business and know the next action steps to take.

Key examples of lists to have are:

Task lists- Tasks that you must do regularly which can be spread out as daily, weekly, monthly, quarterly, and annually.

Marketing ideas- keeping a running list of marketing strategies will help you stay ahead and not come up blank when you have to up your marketing game.

Equipment – This can be both equipment you currently have or equipment you will need in the future.

Client info– Keep this secure but have it ready on hand.

There are more list options, you will have to determine what works for your business.

Pro tip: Check your list twice โœ”๏ธโœ”๏ธ

Import everything in your digital calendar๐Ÿ“ฒ

Digital calendars are just for booking meetings and appointments, you can add notes, block chunks of time and set reminders. Sync your calendar to all your devices. I find  Google Calendar to be very effective and when used in conjunction with the rest of the Google apps it makes everything easy.

Being the person who does everything in your business means you have to stay on top everything and using your reminders is a great way to ensure nothing is missed.

Set up systems ๐Ÿ—ƒ๏ธ and processes ๐Ÿ› ๏ธ

Once you know your goals and have your lists in place, itโ€™s time to set-up systems and start working towards automating your business. Having these systems in place will definitely be of great help when your business is growing and you have to take on employees.

You need to what is the order things when taking on a client, following up on payment or anything else in your business. Having this in place saves you the hustle of doing repetitive tasks differently each time. The focus here is to streamline everything that is done more than once. ๐Ÿ”„

Have set days ๐Ÿ“… to do specific tasks

This is so that you do not get overwhelmed. This helps you to not only focus but also not let work pile up. Having routines in place helps to keep you focused and motivated.

Right now, my schedule ๐Ÿ“† looks like

Mondays: Admin

Tuesdays: Content Creation

Wednesdays: Research

Thursdays: Learning

Fridays: Finishing off tasks

This is over and above client work which I make sure I set time to do each day and add due dates to my Google Calendar. I always give myself an earlier due date to be prepared if anything goes wrong.

Be Flexible ๐Ÿคธ

Allow for changes and the unexpected. If I’ve learned anything it’s that life is unexpected and you have to move with the current situation.

Bonus: Get Help

When all else fails get help. As a small business owner this may feel like a knock on your finances but having support; aids in increasing your efforts and boosts productivity. You can hire someone for small tasks or onetime projects like Website design, research, accounting, systems setup.

  1. I love that you set days to do specific tasks – my client tasks, business admin, and personal admin form a part of my everyday.
